Enology Weekend and Cheese tasting from Savoie

Discover (without over-indulging) the wines and cheeses from Savoie, Abondance, Beaufort, Tomme de Savoie
For a weekend devoted to the art of the living!
In the programme, meet with the producers and Savoie wine tasting with an enologue.

Taste Cheeses

Discover on this same occasion the cheeses from Savoie. Eight PDOs, Abondance, Beaufort, Chevrotin, Emmental, Reblochon, Tomme de Savoie
They offer fruity and flowery flavours, textures that melt in the mouth, firm or creamy, fragrances of milk, of hay, of grass or undergrowth.

Two types of cow come from our mountains: Abondance and Tarine.
Abondance cattle carry the name of the Haute-Savoie Valley from where they come from. Easily recognizable from its mahogany coat, its white head and with marks that look like glasses. Tarine (Tarentaise) cattle descend from the Tarentaise Valley in Savoie. Its characteristics: a hazelnut colour and sombre eyes that look like they are made up in black. We can find the cattle in the Tarentaise, in Maurienne and the Beaufortain, Bauges and Aravis. Native to Jura, the Montbeliarde is equally well presented on the territory.

The alpine goat is native to Savoie and produces an excellent quality milk. A good walker, she has the essential qualities for mountain breeding.

A bit of history – The wines from Savoie

Vineyards of Myans

The culture of the vine in Savoie has developed since antiquity and the Middle Ages.
The monks were the first to perform experiments in vine growing and winemaking.
Resulting in a notable progression in the quality of the wines…

With the revolution of 1789 the accession of the farmers to the property by the purchase of vineyards become national goods, this reduced the agricultural sharecropping and this evolution translated into increased care being brought to the vineyards.

The arrival of phylloxera in Savoy, in 1877, caused considerable ravages as in the whole of France.

The reconstruction of the vineyard was accompanied by profound transformations and a real revival of the Savoyard vineyards in the 19th century.

Harvest in Haute-Savoie

The vines have therefore largely participated in the development of the Savoyard landscape.

They still today hold a privileged place in the Savoyard agricultural economy.

The current vineyard is concentrated in the most favourable sectors for its cultivation, guaranteeing a constant quality.

Several AOCs are now recognized for their quality, Chignin Bergeron, Monterminod, Abyme

How to get to Chalets Marmottes and Chamois ?

The chalets are located on Route des Côtes at Villaret Peisey Nancroix…

By road… MOUTIERS Direction Bourg Saint Maurice… Go past the outside of AIME
Then take the road on the right to PEISEY NANCROIX, ROSUEL, VALLANDRY.

Pass the village of Landry…
Take the road that goes up to Peisey Nancroix… Continue up to the entrance of Peisey Nancroix.

Facing the village entrance sign take the road that goes up on your right into the village of Peisey, direction the televillage…
At the junction, don’t take the road on the right that goes into the village, take the road that goes left in direction of the televillage and school… pass in front of the televillage and its parking until it forks with a little chapel that you leave on your right.
So you take the dead end road to the left…
Then the road really tightens at a gite on your right.
The Chalet des Marmottes is adjoining the gîte…
You may be lucky to find a place in front of the chalet : small car park for two cars.

Remember to inform us of your arrival time so that we can welcome you!
Happy planning and have a safe trip…

In Winter

Peisey Vallandry is located in the centre of one of the biggest ski areas in the world : Paradiski. Our chalets, located in the heart of the Peisey Valley, which separates the domain Les Arcs to the domaine of La Plagne, will give you access at a glance to televillage that will take you to the foot of the slopes. No more waiting, no more crowds…

But besides skiing and snowboarding , which are well-known activities, Peisey Nancroix is famous for its cross-country ski runs.

And still there are other possible activities to amuse yourself in the middle of this white gold : like snowshoe, sledging with dogs, horses, or sleighs. Or simply even, a good snowball fight with family or friends before returning to the chalets where hot chocolate, coffee and herbal tea are waiting for you.

Alpine skiing and snowboarding

From our chalet, everything is accessible on foot without the crowds at the bottom of the slopes. A free televillage is 300m from the chalet that drops you off at the bottom of the slopes, restaurants and ski school (toboggan run for children at the foot of televillage).

For lovers of peaceful skiing, the area of Peisey Vallandry offers nearby skiing with fun slopes. It is varied and renowned for the quality of its snow and the maintenance of its slopes, its friendly instructors and especially its wide slopes in a quality forest setting, composed of larch and spruce, very sunny and protected from prevailing winds from where one discovers a magnificent landscape, with a panoramic view on the high massif of Mont Blanc, Beaufortain, Vanoise and the valley of the Tarentaise.

But the ski resort of Peisey-Vallandry is at the heart of the vast domain Paradiski which covers the ski resorts Les Arcs and la Plagne because of its cable car «Vanoise Express».

The huge domain Les Arcs (Arcs 1600, 1800, 1850 and 2000) and lastly la Plagne all have exceptional off-piste areas.

If the snow cover permits, the televillage is on a slope so it is possible for skiers of a fairly good level to go down again to the chalet…

Not everything is turned to ski slopes, walks from the chalet are exceptional, snowshoeing, sledging with dogs and cross-country skiing.

Paradiski

There are 425 km of pistes, 70% of the ski area is above 2000m, 2 glaciers, the biggest cable car in the world.

Paradiski is a gigantic space for all the unforgettable great walks. Every day opens up a new perspective to discover, impeccable adventures on the other side of the ridges, the valleys and hillsides. An original trip!

A large ski area in the high mountains is open to you and our chalets are ideally placed to discover this huge ski area.

We do advise you however, to be accompanied by the mountain professionals. Their expertise and knowledge of the valley allows you to be in complete safety when discovering the breathtaking routes as much the quality of the snow and the beauty of the landscape.
